Liver Detox

I’m not against medicine. I’m not against pharmaceuticals. I’m pro-health and pro-common sense. I believe that total dependence equals helplessness. And I don’t advocate for helplessness.

Many of us assume that with the exception of diet and exercise, our health is our doctor’s business. Not so. Staying well is mostly YOUR business and no one – your doctor included – has more at stake than you. After all, for the third parties involved your wellness is a matter of business while to you your wellness is a matter of life and death, or – at the very least – the quality of life.

My recommendation: stop being passive, wellness is a choice. There is plenty YOU can do to feel great and pass your physicals with flying colors!

Liver Detox

Natural liver detox (liver cleanse) is a good example of DIY wellness care.

The liver is your body’s main filter. You don’t have to be a physician to appreciate a clean filter. Clean filters in your car – your home’s air conditioner or vacuum – significantly improve performance.

When and why do filters get dirty? The passage of time and the degree of usage cause filters to become less efficient. Some filters can be cleaned, others need to be replaced.

Because not all our organs are replaceable and original (OEM) parts are usually a better fit than generic, after-market parts, ensuring that your original organs and systems work efficiently for as long as possible is in your best interest.

Let’s take a look at new cars. In some ways, they come with a better guarantee than we do. During the period of the factory warranty, the new car owner is practically forced to comply with a maintenance schedule. (Yes, used filter changes are a part of the deal.) New vehicles rarely fail during the manufacturer’s warranty. Are all new vehicles perfect? No. But they are damn near-perfectly maintained during the warranty period.

When it comes to people, we’re turning to health professionals for periodic checkups and whenever some health problem or disease negatively affects us. Rigorous maintenance of wellness isn’t high on the priority list. It should be.

Going back to the liver, the liver is your largest internal organ. It is responsible for filtering all your blood and removing excess fat, toxic substances (like pesticides and other dangerous chemicals), and harmful bacteria from the blood. The liver produces bile which enables the digestion of fats. With help of the bile, the liver absorbs vitamin K which controls blood clotting. The liver manages sugar levels and when the sugar (glucose) levels are too high, it stores the excess glucose (in the form of glycogen) for future use. The liver stores and distributes valuable vitamins (A, D, E, K, B12) and minerals (iron and copper).

By cleansing and detoxifying the liver you’ll improve its efficiency which will have a positive, ripple effect on your overall health.

I’m not suggesting spending money on some “magic” liver detox or liver-cleanse formula. I recommend using nutraceuticals: foods that also have therapeutic properties. Used in the right combination and proportion, nutraceuticals provide remarkable health benefits.

Natural liver detox ingredients:

For the liver cleanse (or a liver detox, if you will), you’ll need (for one person for 5 days):

• the juice of 5 lemons
• 8 cloves of garlic, minced
• 10 oz of virgin olive oil

How to make the liver detox:

Put all ingredients in a blender. Blend. Store in a glass jar in the refrigerator. Shake well before each use.

How to take the liver detox drink:

Divide the contents into 5 servings, and have one serving first thing in the morning for five consecutive days. (Don’t eat or drink for one hour after.)
No re-dos: if you’ve forgotten to take the liver cleanse in the morning, don’t take it in the afternoon! The liver works in daylight, only. It rests at night.

To keep your liver well once the cleanse is completed, make red beetroot juice or beetroot powder a regular part of your diet. (Red beetroot is rich in the amino acid Betaine that supports liver function, prevents and controls the buildup of fat deposits in the liver, and assists in liver detoxification.)

Liver Detox

Protect your liver from hepatitis exposure. Hepatitis is the inflammation of the liver. There are several types of hepatitis, each having a different cause. Obviously, not all can be prevented. Here are examples of where you can – and should – be proactive:

– Hepatitis C is a sexually transmitted disease. Safe sex protects your liver.

– Exotic travel may expose you to hepatitis A and B, not to mention yellow fever and malaria, all of which are damaging to the liver. Get vaccinated before your trip.

If you’re dealing with liver problems, try supplementing with Milk Thistle. Milk Thistle (a plant-based supplement) contains Silymarin. 150 mg of Milk Thistle taken twice a day reverses liver toxicity. (Including liver toxicity caused by excessive alcohol or drug use!)

This particular episode is focused on the liver, liver detox, and a liver cleanse. Most other body organs and systems can be – and should be – cleansed as well. Regular maintenance is the key to sustainable wellness, disease prevention, and good health.

After the age of 30, the maintenance of your wellness should become a part of your wellness routine. After 50, it should become the FOCUS of your wellness routine.

Try the liver cleanse! It will do your liver good and benefit your overall health.
